Birdie

I was not raised on a farm or anywhere near one. I've visited one and I have been on a ranch where there were horses. My mother planted flowers when I was a child and I earned many allowances by picking weeds. This is about the extent of my experience with domesticated nature. I have no idea how to raise chickens or goats, harvest seeds, manage soil, or build a shed. But I intend to do all these things in the very near future. That is why I am here. I am here to share the knowledge I gain of a world I am eager to join. I want to build a lifestyle for my future children where they will be healthy and know where their food is coming from. Where they will learn self accountability and how to coexist with the Earth and its creatures. But I need to learn how to do these things myself before I can ever begin to teach another generation. Nutrition, gardening, chickens, crop rotation, planting seasons, canning and preserving, holistic remedies, and recipes are at the top of my list of things to learn. Armed with this knowledge I will be able to help my family become independent from the mainstream, be healthy in body and spirit, and learn how to be responsible for our impact on ourselves, others, and the Earth.
